| My name is Sid Shephard
and my wife Jean and I started the Dolphin
Swim School at Wimbledon College on a Saturday
afternoon in October 1989. The Dolphin Swim
School has successfully taught thousands
of children and adults to swim with our
methods, which have been adopted as the
template for most other swim schools, and
after more than a decade of teaching we
want to take you and your children swimming
into the future. We have over 30 staff,
both male and female including A.S.A. teachers,
S.T.A. teachers, Assistant teachers, Helpers
and office staff. All our teaching staff
are members of the A.S.A or S.T.A and are
fully trained and committed to the task
of teaching pupils to swim. We offer a wide
range of classes to suit most peoples needs.
We teach parent and baby groups using Water
Babies methods, beginner classes (from 3
years), and intermediate and improver classes
for children of all ages and abilities.
We also teach adults of all abilities and
we specialise in nervous adult beginners.
Children are encouraged to swim distances
for which they receive badges and certificates.
At a more advanced level we offer watermanship
awards, personal survival and life saving
awards, also with a badge and certificate.
For the over fourteens and adults we hold
Bronze Medallion life-saving courses,
one of the qualifications needed for a
position at a swimming pool in the leisure
industry. Beginners and weak intermediates
are taught with the teacher in the water
and, for children who are more accomplished
swimmers we have our own swimming clubs
on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
Also, we are very proud
of The Dolphin Swimming Centre in Church
Road, Mitcham for babies, toddlers and
beginners of all ages where we can teach
in a secure and friendly environment.
Our offices are also on site so our staff
are always there to help, and we can assure
you of a high standard of teaching and
a very warm welcome at any of our pools.
